In Buena Vista, Curaçao, Favela Street Kòrsou launched the first edition of Future Leading Kids in the spring of 2025.

Twenty children aged 8 to 12 took part in ten weeks of sports, games and workbook-based assignments rooted in the Favela Street methodology. The program offered them the chance to build new skills, have fun, and look toward the future with greater confidence.

The project was made possible with support from the Corendon Foundation and the Netherlands Representation on Curaçao, in collaboration with Child First Foundation in Buena Vista.

The sessions were led by the local team of Future Leading Trainers—young people who once participated in the program themselves. Trainer Stefanie Passial shared:
“I see myself in these children. It feels special to pass on my experience to them now.”

The impact was clear. Children spoke up more, showed greater confidence, and grew visibly week by week. A mentor from Child First Foundation noted:
“This pilot shows that children thrive when you give them the right tools and role models.”

Beginning in October 2025, three new editions will follow, supported by the Corendon Foundation and partners such as Sentro di Bario Otrabanda. This means that even more children on Curaçao will have the opportunity to take part and grow.
