MAYA Women in Media: From Connection to Visibility
“You can’t be what you cannot see.”
With this belief, the MAYA Foundation will launch the initiative MAYA Women in Media in the fall of 2025. The Corendon Foundation proudly supports this project, which focuses on increasing the visibility and representation of women in the television and film industry.
Despite progress, the gaps remain significant. Only 30% of leadership positions—such as directors and producers—are held by women. Just 14% of leading roles in fiction are played by people of color, of whom only 9% are women. These figures highlight the critical importance of visibility and representation.
The MAYA Women in Media community event will bring together female creators, emerging talent, and decision-makers to network, share experiences, and work toward a more inclusive TV and film sector. Through conversations, storytelling, and performances, the event will both celebrate existing talent and create space for new perspectives.
This event is part of a broader movement, which also includes a podcast series and a mentorship program. By supporting this initiative, the Corendon Foundation helps create a platform where more women can be seen, heard, and encouraged to take on leadership roles.
